Occupational Therapists use purposeful activity to positively impact a person's physical and emotional health. Treatment takes into consideration the whole person including lifestyle, environment, and physical/emotional wellbeing. The overall goal of therapy is to maximize a person's independence in all aspects of their life.

Occupational Therapists rehabilitate or habilitate people to be able to accomplish whatever keeps a person "occupied" during the day. For adults, "occupation" may be a job or retirement activities or other adult activities and pursuits. For children, "occupation" includes play, school, and self care.

TSI Occupational Therapists work in a variety of settings. These include schools, acute care hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, out patient clinics, home care, group homes, and job sites. TSI Occupational Therapists also work as program consultants and lead workshops, inservices, and seminars on applying or integrating occupational therapy into education and wellness programs. Programs range from "Ready to Write" handwriting clinics for young children struggling with handwriting difficulties to "How Does Your Engine Run" seminars which promote a heightened awareness of energy states in the classroom and the workplace to optimize performance.

Adults and children with developmental delays,
physical dysfunction, or mental illness may
benefit from Occupational Therapy.
Family members and caregivers are guided
in helping an adult or child achieve
independence in new or altered ways.
