     Early detection of a problem can lead to quick resolution. This in turn will reduce frustration and improve the child's learning abilities and self-esteem!

     Below are typical comments describing common characteristics of preschoolers who might be at risk for developmental delays. Remember, warning signs are only. . . warnings.

"He knocks over blocks, bumps into doors,
falls out of his chair, crashes into playmates
and catapults him
self through space."

  • poor coordination
  • poor estimation of space
  • tendency to lurch forward

"She does not like to color or hold a pencil.
She asks for help when getting herself dressed."

  • difficulty using hands to manipulate toys, buttons etc.
  • difficulty with or avoidance of puzzles or blocks

"His vision is good, yet he
doesn't
seem to perceive things well."

  • difficulty understanding what he sees
  • difficulty remembering the order/sequence of what he sees

     TSI conducts pre-school and kindergarten readiness screenings to help determine a child's developmental maturity. Our qualified occupational therapy consultants are also available to help develop customized programs for pre-schools to help children get ready for kindergarten.
